The art of a Archivist

I love the Georgia bulldogs very very much and one of my favorite things to do ever, is to listen to old games while I do something. It does not matter if it is working out side- or playing Super Mario party jamboree, matter of fact we played Mario party just last night and I listened to the 2007 Georgia vs Arkansas basketball game(Steve Newman buzzer beater game) That is one of my favorite games I have listened too Georgia at one point down 9 with less than a minute to play, Steve Newman hits 2 straight 3 pointers, Sundiata Gaines hit a 3 pointer then Steve Newman hit the game winning 3 point from the hog logo in the Arkansas arena Scott's call went like this "Holds it high to Newman long threeee GOOOOOOOD HOLY SMOKES!" Here is Scott's call right here, I love listening to all of these games so much and I love saving all the Georgia radio broadcast.

In the time I have started wanting and to save old Georgia radio broadcast. I owe all so much to the people who have helped me find almost 90% of the old games I listen too and that is Ms Ruta Abolins and her staff at the UGA Walter.J brown archives.

The Walter J. Brown Media Archives & Peabody Awards Collection at the University of Georgia is a THE home for Georgia history. They have everything from old WSB news media broadcast, old music and yes even Georgia radio broadcast. Ms Ruta Abolins and her staff have helped me find Georgia games I never ever thought I'd even get a chance to hear. As mentioned before one of my favorite ones to listen too is the 1997 Georgia vs North Carolina game with Jumaine Jones Derrick Dukes with Scott and Jeff on the radio call. The brown archives have old Georgia radio broadcast saved on things like Cassette tapes and CDs- They have such a bigger collection of games to listen too than the Georgia bulldogs official website. When Georgiadogs.com deleted all of they're games on the website from 2010-2017- I lost most of the selection of games I wanted to listen too(I mean who wants to listen to the same game 100 times?) With the UGA brown archives I have so much choice and option that I can listen too. They have every football game from 1989-2002 and 2007 and 2008 and basketball games from 1996-1997 1997-98 1998-99 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. Because of them I have been able to listen to games like Scott's first game ever calling Georgia and Larry munson's Last game. And that also means I have gotten to listen too a lot of basketball games. They have helped me find almost every game from Georgia's historic and improbable run in the 2008 SEC basketball tournament when Georgia had to win 2 games in 1 day by beating Kentucky and MSU then beat Arkansas to win the SEC championship.

They have helped me so so much and they also one of the reasons I started to save Georgia games. I have been very hurt that efforts to find Georgia radio broadcast from 2009-2017 has not gone well. I have found nothing so far but I hope that will change soon. The UGA brown archives have helped me feel about better the last handful of years by helping me find the games they have on their website. They have done so much work me and many other people it takes so much time to do what they do it is a hard process to have a item on a Cassette tape then to convert it digitally and then have it on the UGA brown archives website.

I have learned so so much about the Georgia teams I have listened too like 1998 Georgia basketball team. I did not know about players like Jumaine Jones GG Smith Jon Nordin Michael Chadwick just to name a few and teams like the 2006-2007 Georgia basketball team, If you are a regular you know how much I love the players TK Brown Terrence Woodbury BIlly Humphrey Sundiata Gaines and the whole crew. With out the UGA brown archives I would not know ANYTHING about the stuff that I am so knowledgeable about now.

Everyone knows how much I love Scott Howard he's my favorite announcer ever the UGA brown archives have helped me find Scott calls I never thought I would even find. I have gotten to hear Scott calls like 2007 Georgia vs LSU when Georgia won on a Levi Stukes buzzer beater on the day the school remembered the late great Kevin Brophy. I have gotten to hear many football calls too. I really really want to his Scott's calls of December 11th 1999 Georgia vs Wake Forest and His calls of Georgia football games from 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 and 2017 but the UGA brown archives have helped me find all of the calls I never never ever would even think that they still existed.

So to Ruta Abolins and the ENTIRE Walter J. Brown Media Archives staff THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL SO SO MUCH! You all have done so much for me and I am writing this to make sure everyone knows. You all have worked so so much to make sure just not me but others get what they need. I am just so thankful for you all because in a way you have helped me fill a very sad void. It is very unfair that Georgia dogs.com deleted all the games they had and never have given us a chance to get them back. Everyone at the UGA brown archives just thank you all so so much you will never know what all you do means so much to me.

I'm about to play Mario party and I'm going to listen to the 2008 Georgia vs Kentucky football game. If there is ever a definition of a Damn Good Dawg- It is everyone at the UGA brown archives. So again thank you all so so much it means the world to me.
